By all accounts Josh Gordon is a member of the New England Patriot following a trade from the Cleveland Browns.
That is depending on who you ask.
The Patriots? Check.

On Tuesday Gordon passed a physical in New England. The NFL then added the trade to its transaction wire. Yet still, one day and two Bill Belichick media availabilities later (he also stonewalled reporters in a conference call on Tuesday) and a confirmed Josh Gordon sighting in New England the Patriots head coach and keeper of all secrets is still insisting the deal is not done.
When asked at his Wednesday press briefing whether he could talk about the Gordon trade here is how Bill responded.
“You can ask. I can’t … we’ll talk about it when it’s done. If it’s done. When it’s done,” Belichick said.
Belichick was then asked whether the trade was not yet official even though it appeared on the NFL transaction wire.
“That’s correct,” Belichick responded.
Belichick was then asked what specificallt needs to happen for the trade to be finalized.
“I’d guess it has to be finalized, That would do it,” he said. “When that happens, it happens. If it happens.”
“There are terms that have to be met before the trade is finalized,” Belichick continued. “And when those are completed, then we’ll have a completed trade. And until they’re completed, then I’m not going to get into it.”
As for whether he was optimistic that the deal would indeed get done….as you can expect, not clear indication either way.
“If and when it happens, I’m happy to talk about it. It’s not completed. I don’t understand how we don’t understand that. … Right now it’s not competed, so next question,” Belichick said when asked about the deal later in his press conference. “I’m not saying it’s not going to happen. I’m just saying it’s not completed. It’s a process. When we’re through the process, then great.”
It’s still no cleat what is holding the deal up. Tom Pelissaro of the NFL Network said it had to do with language involving the compensatory pick the Patriots would get back should Gordon not be active for 10 games.
