The Boston Cannons are members of Major League Lacrosse, and if you haven’t yet seen one of their games you’re missing out.
The Cannons have been in Boston since the league’s inception in 2001 and in 2011 they won the MLL title. Superstar athletes call Boston home during the spring and summer, but they rarely get the recognition they deserve.
In 2018, the Cannons will play seven home games in Massachusetts. Four of those games will be played at the historic Harvard Stadium, two will be played at Endicott College, and one will take place at Hingham High School.
The season will open up on May 5th and the final home game will take place on August 4th. On many Saturday nights over the summer you can take in a lacrosse game with some of the games biggest stars.
2018 Boston Cannons Home Schedule
- May 5 v. Dallas Rattlers at Harvard Stadium
- May 12 v. Atlanta Blaze at Harvard Stadium
- May 19 v. Chesapeake Bayhawks at Hingham High School
- June 2 v. Florida Launch at Endicott College
- June 23 v. New York Lizards at Endicott College
- July 28 v. Charlotte Hounds at Harvard Stadium
- August 4 v. Ohio Machine at Harvard Stadium
The Cannons are also hosting this season’s Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game on June 28th at Harvard Stadium. All of the league’s best players will be there to compete in a game against Team USA.
After a 3-11 season a year ago, the Cannons are on the rebound. They are counting on their veterans like Mitch Belisle and Brodie Merrill, but they also have the first overall pick in April’s 2018 MLL Collegiate Draft. They’re going to add another superstar to the squad, and that’s reason enough to have hope for the season.
New England is a hotbed for lacrosse talent at the high school and collegiate levels, and we need to show that we stand behind our MLL team as well. If you haven’t ever been to a game, it’s great fun for the entire family. If you are a regular, keep it up! This is a Boston team just like any other and they deserve all the fan support we can throw them. Get out there on Cinco de Mayo for the first Cannons game as they host Dallas. You won’t regret it.
