Celtics guard Jabari Bird was arrested Friday night in Brighton and is facing for alleged assault.
According to WBZ-TV, the Boston Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit is involved. Bird was taken into custody at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

The Celtics released the following statement early Saturday morning:
“We are aware of the incident involving Jabari and are taking it very seriously. We are actively gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time.”
Bird was drafted by the Celtics with the 58th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He spent most of last season with Boston’s G-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. After an impressive performance for the Celtics in Summer League Bird inked a two-year NBA contract in July.
