Welcome to the CLNS Smackdown Live Recap here on the CLNS Media Network! This is your home for the results of Smackdown Live, including a recap of all the matches and segments throughout the show. Join me as we discuss what these outcomes could mean for the future of the blue brand as we work towards WWE FastLane.

Smackdown Live comes to you tonight from Kansas City, Missouri!

Segment 1: Shane McMahon Promo

Good promo segment with a back and forth by Shane and Daniel Bryan with huge Rusev Day chants throughout but still it was a really good back and forth between Bryan and Shane. AJ came out and told both of them to stay out of his way and he can control his own destiny.

Match 1: Charlotte Flair vs. Liv Morgan

A slow match that was very much the old school grind it out kind of match. It’s pretty clear Liv is still very raw in the ring as Charlotte had to carry her through most of the match and eventually picked up the win. The rumors right now are Charlotte vs Asuka at WrestleMania but at Fastlane my guess would be Ruby Riot vs Charlotte Flair.

Winner: Charoltte Flair

Segment 2: Kevin Owens Promo

A quick segment with Renee Young interviewing Kevin Owens about his match with his best friend Sami Zayn later tonight. Kevin looks to be making another heel turn and I would think they are setting up Owens vs Zayn at WrestleMania.

Match 2: The Bludgeon Brother’s vs. 2 Local Jobbers

A quick enhancement match as they try to build up the Brother’s for a Tag Title shot at Fastlane. These guys are really impressive and hard hitting, even with all of their reboots of characters they keep chugging down the tracks and making things work.  They have a great version of a double power bomb as a finish. After the Uso’s come out for their promo and stare down the Bludgeon Brothers.

Winner: The Bludgeon Brothers

Segment 3: Uso’s Promo

Another really solid promo here from the Uso’s. They have been making the most of their promos over the last year. After being widely criticized for not being talkers they sure have turned that around.

Segment 4: First Ever Smackdown  Live Top 10 List

This is the first list created and voted on by the wrestlers themselves. They are voting on who they believe deserves the next opportunity most with no input by Bryan, Shane or the Fans.  The list is as follows: 10.Tye Dillinger 9.Randy Orton 8.Becky Lynch 7.The Uso’s 6.The New Day 5.Bobby Roode 4.Naomi 3.Shinsuke Nakamura 2.Charlotre Flair 1.AJ Styles.

Match 3: Rusev vs. Bobby Roode (c) for the United State Championship

This was a great match, Rusev day is so over its scary. Bobby Roode and Rusev really went to work here and put on a great match. A ton of back and forth and false finishes. While it eventually ends with Roode retaining, Randy Orton comes out of nowhere and hits an RKO. He hits another one on Rusev and it seems we may get a triple threat match at Fastlane.

Winner And Still U.S. Champion: Bobby Roode!

Segment 5: Benjamin and Gable Fashion Police Diss

A very quick spoof of how the Breezango do the Fashion files. They had good energy but the writing was very poor and it was evident. Glad this was really quick and didn’t drag on.

Match 4: Chad Gable and Shelton  Benjamin vs. The Ascension

A almost surprisingly quick match with Gable and Benjamin dominating the whole time. This was basically one step above the jobber match from earlier. It feels really wasteful to have 2 basically supplemental matches on a live TV card. I really hope they find a new feud they can fill this spot on the card with because this was sad.

Winner’s: Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

Main Event: Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens for a shot at the WWE Championship

What was a really good match ends in a predictably bland and cookie cutter type of way. After 10 good minutes, AJ Styles gets hit at the commentators desk and attacks both Owens and Zayn. So Bryan comes out and makes the match at WWE Fastlane a triple threat match.

Winner: Double DQ

While overall a solid show it ended in disappointment. They take good ideas and then play it safe every time with the same old finishes and storylines. While I am excited for the triple threat match I am afraid that Vince will take the belt off Styles just to slight the hardcore fans. Lets all hope I’m wrong and the dream match continues to build.

Match of the night: Rusev vs. Bobby Roode
