BOSTON – Bruins rookie forward Ryan Donato could make his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut Saturday night in Game 2 of his team’s Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series with the Toronto Maple Leafs, that Boston leads 1-0.
Forward Tommy Wingels – who was injured from a hit from behind by Leafs forward Nazem Kadri – is a game-time decision. If Wingels is a no-go, then Donato – who had five goals and nine points in 12 regular season games – will be inserted into the line-up and likely see plenty of power play time as well.
“Super excited!” Donato told the media. “Growing up as a kid in Boston these are the types of games you dream about playing in.”
Wingels was simply in a wait and see mode.
“Feel better than I did yesterday and I’ll come to the game tonight and see how I feel,” he said. “Decide from there.”
Injured forward Riley Nash (ear) will remain out as he inches closer to a return.
Here’s what Mike Petraglia and I believe the Bruins must do to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series before they head to Toronto for Games 3 and 4.
