Kevin Harvick won the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Harvick battled with Denny Hamlin throughout the day as the two fastest cars.\u00a0 After Hamlin\u2019s tire went down with seven laps to go, Harvick was able to hold off Matt Kenseth during an overtime finish to win his third Brickyard 400.<\/p>\n

Harvick said winning at Indianapolis was a childhood dream when he was growing up.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the Brickyard man, this is what I grew up wanting to do as a kid,\u201d Harvick said.\u00a0 \u201cTo be able to come here, and have won for the third time, is something I could have never dreamed of.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the race, Hamlin\u2019s tire wear was worse than Harvick, and his crew chief told him to keep pressure on Hamlin over the final run.<\/p>\n

Harvick said he tried all he could to get Hamlin to overdrive his car.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Crew chief Rodney Childers] told me on the radio, \u2018just make sure you keep the pressure on him,\u2019 and that was all the pressure I could give,\u201d Harvick said.\u00a0 \u201cWe knew he was going to be really close on tires.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamlin said he was disappointed his race ended early after having such a good car.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tough, I hate it for the FedEx team,\u201d Hamlin said.\u00a0 \u201cWe did what we needed to do; just didn\u2019t work out.\u00a0 Had a fast car, obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kenseth finished second, and said he tried what he could to hang with Harvick on the final restart.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 4 [of Harvick], they were just really, really fast,\u201d Kenseth said.\u00a0 \u201cI could run a little faster, but I could never get enough of a run to make the pass.\u201d<\/p>\n
