The Patriots are bringing back former second round draft bust Jordan Richards to fill an open roster spot.
The news was first reported by Field Yates.
Richards was in camp with the Raiders this year but did not make the final roster. He was with the Falcons last season. He started 12 games at safety. Richards spent the previous three years with the Patriots.
Richards was a contributor on special teams for the Patriots but his play in the defensive backfield left something to be desired.
His tenure with the Patriots was doomed from the get go. He was inexplicably selected in the second round of the 2015 draft when the expert consensus was he would be drafted much, much, much lower.
Patriots fans last impressions of Richards were seeing him unable to cover anyone in the Patriots Super Bowl LII loss to the Eagles.
Naturally Patriots twitter was not super fond of the move.
