Smackdown Live comes to you tonight from Louisville, Kentucky!
Segment 1: Miz TV
Starting off the night, The Miz makes his triumphant return to Smackdown Live by hosting his Talk show Miz TV. The Miz announces that Daniel Bryan is his very first guest and that he has completely forgiven Daniel Bryan for everything. Big Cass interrupts The Miz and makes his way to the ring for an interview. Big Cass says no one cares about Daniel Bryan. When the Miz tries to make fun of Cass, he threatens to shut his mouth for good. He calls Daniel Bryan a basic, normal person who Cass shouldn’t have to be dealing with. He continues to verbally dissect Daniel Bryan until he is satisfied and leaves the ring.
When promoting the next match we get a cut to the back showing that someone has taken out Daniel Bryan.
Match 1: Asuka and Becky Lynch vs. The IIconics
Before the match we get a great promo from the heel duo in which they come to the conclusion that they are both better than Asuka. Unfortunately before they finish Becky interrupts them. With her entrance. We get a commercial before the match begins and when we come back from break Peyton Royce has the upper hand on Becky Lynch. The IIconics are great heels, they can really give it when they need too but when a hot tag gets setup man can they sell. Eventually after Asuka is bumped from the ring Peyton Royce gets a roll up win on Becky.
Winner’s: The IIconics
Segment 2: AJ Styles Promo
AJ Announces to Renee Young that Commissioner Shane McMahon has made a 6 man tag match. It will be AJ Styles, and two mystery partners vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Aiden English and Rusev.
Match 2: Rowan vs. Jimmy Uso
Now we have a very quick match previewing the Smackdown Tag Title match on Friday in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately Naomi makes a entrance again this week trying to distract the Bludgeon Brother’s and give the win to her husband.
Winner: Jimmy Uso
After the match it is announced that AJ Styles partners tonight will be The Club, Gallows and Anderson.
Segment 3: Women’s Championship Contract Signing
Next we have the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship contract signing. This goes as pretty much all contract signings do, the heel (Carmella) comes out and runs down the challenger (Charlotte). Then charlotte gets the chance to respond, they sign the contract and then they fight to end the segment. I’m excited to see what the two can do in their match at backlash, it’s unfortunate none of the women are performing in Saudi Arabia and we have to wait for the match but maybe it will be for the better…here’s too hoping.
Match 3: Randy Orton vs. Shelton Benjamin
This originally was supposed to be Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton but much like last week we had an interruption before the match. Randy’s music hit when Jeff was halfway down the ramp. It’s clear this is leading to Jeff vs. Randy at Backlash so this is a new and interesting way to set it up. This match was fairly lengthy and good overall. It got a little sloppy in the middle of the match but Randy is so fluid that it didn’t really bother me. Jinder Mahal and his lacky make an appearance at the end of the match. They first took out Jeff hardy at ringside and then by distracting him, allowed Randy to get hit with Paydirt by Shelton for the win.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
Segment 4: Daniel Bryan Backstage Promo
Daniel says that he was blindsided by a coward in Big Cass. He says that Paige has granted him a match with Big Cass at Backlash and that it doesn’t matter how Big someone is because they all look the same on the mat tapping out. A solid promo from Bryan here as his happiness to be back radiates off the screen. Even though this was quick it’s nice to see Bryan cutting promo’s again in a actual feud.
Main Event: AJ Styles, Gallows and Anderson vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev and Aiden English
Finally we get the stand out match of the night, The Club vs. Rusev Day and Shinsuke Nakamura., who may I add debuted a new song with Japanese Rap which was incredible. This match lived up to the hype of a main event, The Club were taking it to the heels early and often as the match started. The polt of the match involved AJ trying his damnedest to get to Shinsuke but not being able too. They set up incredible spots with Shinsuke luring AJ into traps and then tagging in when he is already down. To end the match Shinsuke slipped in the match with a blind tag and hit Gallows with the Kinshasa for the win. After the match AJ jumped Shinsuke but Shin hit him with a low blow again. Then he setup for a Kinshasa but Anderson took a bullet for AJ. Then Shinsuke hit him with another one just to make AJ mad.
Winner’s: Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev and Aiden English
Match of the night: AJ Styles, Gallows and Anderson vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev and Aiden English
