Welcome to the CLNS Raw Recap here on the CLNS Media Network! This is your home for the results of WWE Raw, including a recap of all the matches and segments throughout the show. Join me as we discuss what these outcomes could mean for the future of the red brand as we work towards The Greatest Royal Rumble!
WWE Raw comes to you tonight from Hartford, Connecticut!
Segment 1: Kurt Angle Promo
Starting off the night we have Kurt Angle announcing the first member of the Smackdown brand switching sides. After building the anticipation, out comes the United States Champion, Jinder Mahal. Jinder claims he is the best superstar on either brand and that he will run through the Raw roster. Kurt then informs Jinder that he can start next with Jeff Hardy.
Match 1: U.S. Championship – Jinder Mahal vs. Jeff Hardy
Following a commercial break we come back and Jinder is in full control of the match. Just as Jeff starts to gain momentum Sunil Singh interferes so Jinder can turn back the tide. After a few more minutes of Jinder breaking down Jeff, Hardy finally mounts some offense. He hits his signature jaw breaker and twist of fate. He climbs the top rope and hits the Swanton Bomb for the 1..2..3! We have a new United States Champion!
Winner: Jeff Hardy
Match 2: Bayley vs. Sasha Banks
Next we have a very quick match that unfortunately is only to introduce a new group on Monday nights. After a short back and forth between Bayley and Sasha, The Riot Squad hit the ring and attack both ladies. The former Smackdown Live team is here and they have made their mark by destroying two top Raw superstars.
Match 3: Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. AOP
Heath and Rhyno again call out the Authors Of Pain and again they are squashed. This time of year there are many releases in the WWE and unfortunately I have a feeling Slater and Rhyno may be two of them. After dragging their feet for the last year and with no real direction in sight, cutting these two superstars would be a plausible next step for the WWE.
Segment 2: Miz Promo
After the break we come back to the Miz in the ring. He is set to announce the newest members of the Raw brand and has promised that they will shake things up on Monday nights. These new signings are Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens! Shortly after the announcement Sami and Kevin make their way to the ring to celebrate. Unfortunately Kurt Angle didn’t approve this decision as he comes out to protest. This in turn forces Sami to read off an email from…Stephanie McMahon. This email states that she is overruling Kurt and hiring Sami and Kevin to Monday night Raw. To get back at her, Kurt announces that The Miz has been sent to Smackdown Live.
Match 4: Woken Matt and Bray Wyatt vs The Revival
Next we have the Tag Team Eliminator finals. The winners of this match will be facing The Bar for the Raw Tag Titles at The Greatest Royal Rumble. In what is a relatively quick match for the tournament finals, Bray and Woken Matt work brilliantly in tandem. Their oddness frightens The Revival and they catch them in a combination twist of fate for the 3.
Winner’s: Woken Matt and Bray Wyatt
Segment 3: Ronda Rousey Promo
After the commercial break we return to see Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle talking backstage. They briefly discuss WrestleMania before Kurt introduces Natalya as the newest member of Raw. Ronda and Natty are friends and have trained together as Kurt thought this would be a nice surprise.
Match 5: Ember Moon vs. Mickie James
Then we have another fairly quick match with Mickie dominating early. After a courter by Ember she hits a super kick and then the Eclipse for the win. Good to see Ember getting a solid push on Raw, with Win’s in her first two weeks a possible program with Alexa Bliss seems imminent.
Winner: Ember Moon
Segment 4: Dolph Ziggler Promo
The next new member of Raw is here and his name is Dolph Ziggler. As he just starts to speak he is interrupted by Titus World Wide. Titus tries to tell Dolph how much things have changed since he has been on Raw and gives Ziggler his card. Dolph responds by saying what’s changed is that this time he didn’t come alone. The former NXT Champion, Drew McIntyre rushes the ring and he and Dolph dismantle Titus World Wide.
Segment 5: Roman Reigns Promo
After another commercial break we have a quick promo from Roman ragging on Brock Lesnar for not being here again. Samoa Joe interrupts and tells him that after he loses to Brock again that he’ll be waiting at Backlash. They then tease a fight but nothing comes of it.
Match 6: Mandy Rose vs. Natalya
Next we get another really quick match from the women’s division that ends in a DQ. Natalya sets up Mandy in the Sharpshooter but Sonya Deville breaks it up and attacks Natalya. Ronda Rousey’s music hits as she makes the save, simultaneously destroying Sonya Deville in the process.
Winner: Natalya by DQ
Match 7: Breezango vs. The Bar
Now we get a decent length match but unfortunately it was an uneventful one. Nothing too spectacular happened until the finish. In one of the biggest upsets in recent weeks, Breezango steal one from The Bar with a roll up! Does this mean they’ll be added to the Raw Tag Team Title match at The Greatest Royal Rumble? Or will they get a shot at Backlash? Either way this puts Breezango in prime position here on Monday nights.
Main Event: Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman and Bobby Roode vs. The Miz, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and The Miztourage
Finally in the main even we get the last debut of the night and it is GLORIOUS! The last debut of the night is none other than the glorious one Bobby Roode. Not only is his debut glorious but so is this entire match. All of the heels get good heat, the babyfaces get all of their spots in and at the end, the Miztourage turns on the Miz. Strowman hits the Running Power Slam on the Miz for the win as they send the crowd home happy.
Winner’s: Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman and Bobby Roode
Match of the night: Main Event 10 Man Tag
Segment of the night: Dolph Ziggler Promo
