One of the more intriguing storylines entering free agency is where Al Horford will end up and who this “mystery team” is that’s waiting in the wings to sign him.
Well, we may have the answer to one of those questions.
According to the Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor it’s believed by many around the NBA that the Celtics have the inside track at re-signing Horford. But it’s not going to be easy.
There are some league executives that believe the "mystery team" for Al Horford is…the Boston Celtics.
But keeping Horford's rights would require a number of complicated maneuvers, including a double sign-and-trade involving Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier. It wouldn't be easy. https://t.co/dCfSQcaEc4

Earlier in the day we learned that the Kings were planning to make a massive offer to Horford right when free agency was schedule to begin, 4 years and north of $100 million. But it appears Big Al is going to turn down that offer because he is hoping to make it work with the Celtics.
But it won’t be easy.
In order to bring back Horford the Celtics are going to need a lot of help to make the money work in the form of sign and trades with more than one team involved. The Hornets and Nets have been discussed as possible dance partners but Brooklyn may not be inclined to help the Celtics since they are division rivals.
