The Los Angeles Lakers have some big plans this summer as they will hope to use their cap space to pursue max-level free agents like Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, and others. However, given the disarray shown in the front office lately, there are real questions about whether or not they will be able to accomplish this goal.
If they find themselves unable to land another star on the free agent market the Lakers may be forced to part with some young assets to bring in immediate help via trade. Should they go that route, a recent rumor suggests that Bradley Beal and Kyle Lowry could be on their list of trade targets. Given their age and contract status, Beal would cost more to acquire than Lowry, and it’s possible that the Wizards will decline to trade their young All-Star regardless of the offer.
That said, if there is a deal to be had, expect the Lakers to pursue it aggressively. On this episode of the LN News Feed, host Trevor Lane breaks down these rumors and what it all means for the Lakers moving forward.
