Chris Sale will be on the mound for the first game of the double header still in search of his first win of the season. Sale has not looked like himself to start the season going 0-4 with an 8.50 ERA.

Sale has publicly talked about his struggles and this is a good chance to get back on track against a Tigers team who has struggled on offense. Sale is also very familiar with the Tigers from his time with the White Sox. In 32 games against the Tigers Sale is 10-8 with a 2.94 ERA.

Tigers southpaw Matthew Boyd will be on the mound for the Tigers and is 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA. Boyd has been a strikeout machine twice reaching double digits in his first 4 starts.

Hector Velazquez who has been great as the long reliever this season with a 3.84 ERA  will start the night game for the Red Sox against Spencer Turnbull who is in search of his first win like Sale currently 0-3 with a 3.43 ERA.
