Yesterday afternoon the Red Sox beat the San Francisco Giants at Fenway Park by a final score of 5-4. The win improves the Sox record to an underwhelming 80-72.
Boston got up early on Giants’ ace Madison Bumgarner (five runs in the first two innings) and cruised to a victory due to a stellar performance by starter Eduardo Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has been a bright spot for the disappointing Sox this season, going 18-6 with a 3.53 ERA. That did not change yesterday when E-Rod went six innings, giving up no runs while striking out 10 Giants. Yesterday included, Rodriguez now owns a 1.00 ERA over his last seven starts (45 innings).
Tonight, the Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Boston will send out Rick Porcello to take on Rays’ starter Charlie Morton. You can catch the game tonight at 7:10 by watching on NESN or listening to it on 93.7 WEEI FM.
