Yesterday afternoon the Red Sox lost to the Texas Rangers by a final score of 7-5. The Sox won the first two games of the three-game series but failed to complete the sweep at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
Rangers starter Mike Minor kept Boston at bay for the most part, going 8 and 2/3 innings while striking out 9 batters. He did give up five runs, but the Rangers lineup had his back.
Super utility man Danny Santana hit a grand slam off Boston reliever Mike Shawaryn in the fifth inning and was followed in the seventh inning with two solo shots from Texas’s Roughned Odor and Willie Calhoun.
The loss drops Boston to 83-76 as they get ready for the last series of the season versus the Baltimore Orioles. That series starts tonight at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. The Sox will send out starter Nathan Eovaldi to take on the O’s Asher Wojciechowski. You can catch the game tonight at 7:10 by watching on NESN or listening to it on 93.7 WEEI FM.
