On this weeks episode of Steak, Bourbon & Sports Jeremy Mandel (@jeremymandel) and Ari Temkin (@arisports) break the news that MGP, one of the great distilleries in the country, has purchased Luxco Brands, and what the acquisition means for the whiskey world.
Breaking news: MGP, one of the best distilleries in the country entered into an agreement to purchase Luxco Brands for $450 million.
Jeremy Mandel: “The piece that they’re (MGP) missing is kind of the tourism piece, because their facility in Indiana is not a place that’s designed to have people come visit.”

If your company is using MGP to distill your product, why wouldn’t you just do it yourself?
Jeremy Mandel: “Sometimes there’s success stories and sometimes it tastes like garbage, but that’s how you learn.”
As a consumer of whiskey, and someone that has a background in business, what does Jeremy make of this news?
Jeremy Mandel: “The people that are in charge are distilling the product the way that it should be distilled…granted they’re doing it in the wrong place.”
How does this start happening?
Jeremy Mandel: “I think MGP will be able to sell more whiskey in more places as a result of this.”
