If you happened to miss last night’s stellar Saturday night showing between the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets because you had plans outside of watching basketball, you sure did miss an amazing game.
In a possible Finals matchup, the Celtics and Rockets went after it for a full 48 minutes in a game that had a true playoff-like atmosphere.
It was the Celtics’ bench that more than showed out for last night’s game. The bench scored a season-high 67 points, which included 11 points from Marcus Smart, 17 from Terry Rozier and 21 from Marcus Morris. Yet, perhaps the biggest revelation came from Greg Monroe, who added 18 points in 19 minutes of play.
Not only did Monroe have his best offensive output in a Celtics uniform, he was great on defense. Monroe was a game-high plus-23, blocked two shots and was more often than not in the right position.
Plus, Brad Stevens confirms that Gordon Hayward “isn’t playing this year,” and former Celtic-turned-Rocket Gerald Green dishes on former teammate Isaiah Thomas.
