Lakers versus Clippers might produce the best games on the NBA calendar this season. LeBron and AD battling Kawhi and Paul George. Those are, what, four of the top seven-ish players in the league when they are fully healthy? Star power is truly on display in the City of Angels.

However, we all know that it takes more than two players to win an NBA Championship. Yes, Leonard was unbelievable in the playoffs this past year. But he had a lot of help. Pascal Siakam, Danny Green, Marc Gasol, Kyle Lowry, and Serge Ibaka all had huge moments in the postseason.

So with that in mind Evan Valenti asked Jeff Goodman on this week’s Good ‘N Plenty discussed which team is a better spot in 2019-2020.

    Why Lakers over Clippers?

Goodman’s argument revolves around top-end talent. That at the end of the day you’re only going to play a couple of guys, and if certain people remain healthy that the Lakers are better positioned over the Clippers.

DeMarcus Cousins was once a star player in the league. He moved onto New Orleans, snapped his Achilles, and played a prove-it year in Golden State. Now, you can believe that Boogie can build on that and continue to trend upward.

I have a hard time doing so.

Cousins has a checkered history as a teammate, although he was well-behaved with the Warriors (to my knowledge). I know it’s not the hottest take in the world, but he wasn’t the same guy last year, understandably so. It’s a gruesome injury to come back from. But he still as a way to go.

He did play well with Rondo and Davis during his time with the Pelicans, but this floor spacing is a little different. I don’t know whether all those guys can exist on a team.

The Clippers roster fits much better. There is a clear pecking order, the floor is spaced better, and when you line up the playoff rotations I think there is more talent in the Clippers locker room.
