While the 2017-18 season for the Boston Bruins can certainly be described as surprisingly great, veteran Brad Marchand has come under fire from all angles.
And hockey insider Mike “Trags” Petraglia believes that the end could be a lot nearer than B’s fans may expect.
“I think Marchand is on his final straw with the team,” Trags said on the latest Bruins Beat podcast. “I think the team did a very good job at not getting cute at the break-up meeting.”
Trags went on to express his belief that Marchand needs to mature:
“I think Marchand needs to get beyond the licking and all of that stuff,” stated Trags.
Veteran hockey reporter Jimmy Murphy added that he’d had a conversation with a very connected source on the topic of Marchand after Game 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
How will carry into the off-season? Because Marchand’s name was not the only one brought up in terms of those whose time with the B’s could be expiring.
When it comes to players who could be dealt this offseason, Torey Krug‘s name has been brought up a lot.
“I’m not surprised by that,” exclaimed Trags. “He’s a weapon on the power play, he’s a craft skater, he’s not a traditional defenseman, but he can carry the puck. He’s an offensive weapon which you need in today’s NHL. He’s still young enough to be productive for many years to come.”
But how did Trags feel about trading the star blue-liner?
