Yesterday afternoon the Red Sox finished up their four-game series with the Chicago White Sox defeating them by a final score of 9-2. The win gets Boston ever so close to the .500 mark as their record currently sits at 17-18.
The matchup between the Sox yesterday was highly contested throughout. Both starters managed to only give up two runs. Boston’s Rick Porcello went 6 innings, while Chicago’s Dylan Covey managed 4 and two-thirds respectively.
The game was tied 2 to 2 heading into the top of the eighth inning. The red-hot Red Sox offense then put the nail in the coffin. Boston managed to score seven runs, four of which came courtesy of a Xander Boagerts grand-slam. Marcus Walden and Colten Brewer were then able to go two shutout innings to close up the game, and the series.
Tonight, Boston looks to continue their winning ways as they head to Baltimore to take on the Orioles. Josh Smith will get his first start in a Red Sox uniform while the O’s are sending out John Means, who has been a pleasant surprise so far in 2019. First pitch is at 7:10 at Camden yards in Baltimore, Maryland. You can catch the game tonight on NESN or listen to it at WEEI, 93.7 FM.
