The Red Sox looked great throughout in the opening game of their road-trip. Andrew Benintendi, Mookie Betts, and J.D. Martinez combined to go 8-13, while David Price gave Boston a quality start. The only real mistake of his was giving up a two-run shot to Chicago’s James McCann.

With a one run lead heading into the late innings, Boston’s bullpen looked steady as Brandon Workman and Matt Barnes breezed through the seventh and eighth innings. Brasier looked like he was on the same trajectory, but a Rafeal Devers error and Yonder Alonso single set Delmonico up for the walk-off blast.

Tonight, Boston looks to bounce back in game two of their series with the White Sox. Chris Sale looks for a fresh start this month against his old team, while Chicago’s Reynaldo Lopez is looking to repeat the 14-strikeout game he had in his last time out. First pitch is 8:10 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. You can catch the game today on NESN or listen to it at WEEI, 93.7 FM.
