There’s a light in the distance. It’s faint, but it’s there. That flicker is the Red Sox playoff hopes.
After a five game winning streak, Boston has managed to climb back into the race. The odds may not be in their favor, considering that it would take an absolutely extraordinary run, but baseball is a game of numbers, and until a team is mathematically eliminated, they should never be forgotten.
That being said, the Red Sox journey to the playoffs is going to be a lot harder from now until the end with ace Chris Sale out for the next six weeks. A thin starting rotation combined with the constantly struggling bullpen is going to make Alex Cora’s life a hellhole.
Tonight, Brian Johnson will have the mound. The lefty swingman will be facing off against Aaron Nola and the Philadelphia Phillies. Tune in at 7:10 for the first pitch.
