Yesterday the start of the Red Sox series between the division leading New York Yankees was postponed. The game will now be part of a day-night doubleheader between the two clubs on August 3rd.

The postponement now makes this a three-game set between Boston and New York but does not make it any less important. Sitting 7 and ½ games back in the division, Boston has the opportunity to make up three games starting tonight.

It will definitely be a challenge for Boston as the Yanks have been red-hot, going 12-3 in their last 15 games. Add in the fact that Boston will be without first baseman Mitch Moreland after he was placed on the IL Wednesday, and things get even tougher.

Chris Sale will get the first crack at New York for the 29-27 Sox with the Yanks preparing to send veteran lefty J.A. Happ to the hill. First pitch of the game will be at 7:05 at Yankee Stadium in New York. You can catch the matchup by watching on NESN, or listening to it on 93.7 WEEI FM.
