The Red Sox rotation has gotten off to a very slow start and that trend slightly continued last night as Nathan Eovaldi had trouble controlling his pitches but he did go 5 innings and kept the Red Sox in the game down 3.
3 runs at the time seemed like an insurmountable feat considering the Red Sox hadn’t scored in 21 innings but luckily the birthday boy Blake Swihart came to play.
Swihart answered right back with a solo home run in the 5th inning and gave the Red Sox some much needed life.
It looked like this game may have been heading to extras but the offensive floodgate may have finally opened for the Red Sox in the 9th inning as Mookie Betts hit a hard line ball of the third base bag sending JBJ and Swihart home.
This made the score 5-3 and Benintendi had the icing on the cake as he broke out of his early season slump hitting a deep triple to right sending Betts home to seal the 6-3 victory.
