At 72-62 the Boston Red Sox currently sit five and a half games back of the second American League Wild Card. The Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, and division rival Tampa Bay Rays are all ahead of them in the standings.
The Sox seem to be doing their best at making another trip to the postseason despite losing ace Chris Sale for the year. Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, and J.D. Martinez continue to power the offense while the pitching has steadily improved. Over their last 14 games Sox pitching has a 3.24 ERA, only allowing opposing hitters to reach base 31% of the time.
They will look to keep that up tonight as they visit the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, California. Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi takes the hill while Angels’ manager Brad Ausmus sends out starter Jose Suarez for the Halos. You can catch the game tonight at 10:10 by watching on NESN or listening to it on 93.7 WEEI FM.
