Red Sox ace and AL pitcher of the month for July Chris Sale was supposed to start game one, but due to an injury Brian Johsnon was on the mound.

The true hero of the night was Steve Pearce who ignited the Red Sox comeback. Pearce’s solo shot in the third cut the defict to 4-2. His second blast was a three-run shot in the fourth that gave Boston its first lead of the night at 6-4 and came during an eight-run inning.

While Pearce was fantastic, you also have to tip your cap to Mookie Betts who was for 4  for 4 on the night and reached base all 6 times he was up, Benintendi who was 3 for 6 and had 3 RBIs, JD Martinez who had 2 doubles, and newly acquired Ian Kinsler who had 3 hits and 2 RBIs on the night.
