The New England Patriots have signed two players since the NFL free agency period opened. They brought in defensive tackle Beau Allen on a two-year, $8 million deal. Allen is a powerhouse run blocker with a stocky build and played on the Philadelphia Eagles team that took down the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
New England also signed wide receiver Damiere Byrd to a one-year deal. Byrd has an impressive skill set, highlighted by his speed, and comes at a much lower cost than other big-name free agent wide receivers.
