Mid-Season Grades For The Patriots’ Secondary | Patriots Press PAss

Sierra Goodwill, Alex Barth and Evan Lazar give a unanimous grade to the Patriots' impressive secondary.

FOXBORO — There’s not much to debate on this one. The New England Patriots’ secondary has arguably been the best in the NFL through the first nine games. 19 interceptions, two touchdowns for 270 yards isn’t too shabby.

Stephon Gilmore continues to prove why he’s the best cornerback in the league with a team-leading 10 passes defended and 27 total tackles.

Devin McCourty might just be playing the best football of his career in his 10th NFL season with the Patriots. He’s already grabbed five interceptions through nine games; he’s only had more than five interceptions in an entire season one time in his career when he had seven his rookie season in 2010.

Patrick Chung, Jon Jones, Duron Harmon, JC Jackson, Jason McCourty — the list of threats go on and on. Coming into this season the Patriots’ secondary was ranked fifth in the NFL, but they’ve fought their way to the very top of that list.

Sierra Goodwill, Alex Barth and Evan Lazar all give this group an A+. Sorry to ruin the surprise.
