The Celtics opening day lineup — nicknamed “Erotic City” – made a return in the Pacers series. Not as a starting lineup, but to close games 2 and 3. Justin Poulin and Jon Duke from Celtics Stuff Live think the EC lineup could be the key to the Celtics toppling the top seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Here’s what the Celtics had to say about it during the Pacers series.
“It just shows we’ve come a long way in terms of our maturity as a group. Just our mindset of whoever’s on the floor, making sure that we’re giving each other confidence and we’re all in the right spots and we’re all doing the little things to assure the win. When you have that type of camaraderie going into huddles, everyone’s talking, everyone’s feeling great.”
AL HORFORD ON EXPECTATIONS:
“I just think it was probably a lot of high expectations, a lot of pressure at the beginning of the year. I think that we’ve been through a year together, we understand what we need to do on the floor, how we need to play and I’m happy to be able to see all of us together out there, playing together.”
BRAD STEVENS ON KYRIE IRVING and AL HORFORD DUO:
“Those two are really good players,” said head coach Brad Stevens. “The best thing to do in that moment is to keep it simple, figure out what the defense is doing and react to it. We’ve seen a lot over the last 85 games about how they react to Al and Kyrie and then guarding Kyrie. Some of the shots he hit-he had the driving layup which was a good move, but the little floating shot was just a joke. He’s ridiculous.”
