Celtics Are Overwhelming NBA Finals Favorites Heading into Second Round vs. 76ers

Now that the Patriots draft has concluded and the Bruins choked away their one chance at hockey royalty, it’s time to shift the focus to the Celtics.

Following the collapse of Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks against Miami, Boston is now the overwhelming favorite to win the NBA Finals according to our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. Here are the odds:

2023 NBA Finals Odds to Win

Boston Celtics                                 +130

Golden State Warriors                  +500

Denver Nuggets                              +500

Phoenix Suns                                  +600

Los Angeles Lakers                      +1000

Philadelphia 76ers                        +1100

Miami Heat                                   +2000

New York Knicks                          +2400

Despite a bit of a scare in game five, Jayson Tatum and the Celtics took care of business versus Trae Young and the Hawks with a 4-2 series win, advancing to the second round. They’ll now take on James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers with a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Why no mention of Joel Embiid? Well, he is dealing with an LCL sprain in his knee and according to Shams Charania, is doubtful to begin the series. Embiid “underwent platelet-rich plasma treatment on his injured knee as part of his recovery process,” and Shams was told that he hasn’t run up and down the floor as much as they’d like him to during practice. He said it would be “a miracle” if Embiid plays on Monday night.

Not only is Boston the heavy favorite to win the Finals, but their also heavy favorites to win this Philly series, given -560 odds to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals at Fan Duel.

So, much like what we just saw with the Bruins on Sunday evening, it would be both a major upset and an abject failure if Boston doesn’t advance. No pressure.

The series tips off at 7:30pm tonight from the TD Garden.
