Over the weekend, the Celtics showed both side of themselves again during the most sporadic week of their NBA season, falling behind by 32 points to the San Antonio Spurs before Jayson Tatum tied Larry Bird’s 36-year record with 60 points in the third biggest comeback win in NBA history.
Two days later, Boston played some of its worst defense all season against the Trail Blazers, allowing Damian Lillard and company to shoot 50% from the field and from three, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown got hurt while Marcus Smart got ejected amid more frustration with the officials. Who are these Celtics? Sean Deveney weighs in on them and their likely matchup in the play-in tournament.
