Brad Stevens was interviewed at Celtics practice the day after their game one loss. On the importance of trying to win a game against Brooklyn, Stevens said “I mean it’s really important obviously… I think the biggest thing is that this was the first time we played against that team… we got to play better offensively to have a chance to win… we’re going to have to go down the court and do better than scoring 93 or 94 points.”
On the balance between hunting mismatches and moving the ball, Stevens said “We have to read the overhelp at the end of plays better… I don’t think that there’s a ton of people that you necessarily want to isolate… you got to get the ball side to side and cut with pace… it’s about making the right read when you get an advantage.”
With Rob Williams dealing with an injury, Coach Stevens was asked if the young center had gotten practice today. “I didn’t have any of the top six in minutes yesterday practice,” Stevens stated plainly. Williams set a Celtics postseason record of 9 blocks on Saturday night, surpassing Bill Russell’s record.
