Brad Stevens Pregame Interview | Celtics vs Heat

TD Garden, Boston, Mass. — Brad Stevens was interviewed before the Celtics’ game vs the Miami Heat. He spoke about the importance of these two games, Jaylen Brown’s and Robert Williams’ injuries, and Tommy Heinsohn day. These two games vs the Heat will have major playoff seeding implications.

When asked about it, Stevens had this to say. “I mean obviously all these games that we’re playing right now, all these games that Miami is playing are really important for positioning… we’ve been in that position for a while where we’re going to be going back and forth… you can’t dive in quite like a playoff series…it’s not quite the same, but certainly these games are awfully meaningful… we’re going to have to play very well to have a chance to win.”

Coach also spoke about the team’s injury report which includes both Brown and Williams. On Brown, he said this. “He’s obviously out… he’s going to be out today and we’re going to have more information tomorrow… we got to focus on who’s available… we need to play better than we did the other night, and that’s that.” As for Williams, this was the update. “It’s going to be how he feels… you may not realize how much discomfort that [turf toe] can be… I think he’ll probably play today, but I think there will be a lot of game-time decisions.”

Lastly, Stevens talked about Tommy Heinsohn, as today will mark the first inaugural Tommy Heinsohn Day at TD Garden. “Tremendous person, not only loved listening to him and hearing him call games, but more so loved sitting in my office, closing the door, meeting him for lunch… just enjoyed his perspective… he was a coach, and a really good one… I think I always appreciated, he had a great perspective… loved to play fast and loved to play physical… also had a great empathy for the players… to have him as a resource and a sounding board was really nice… he’s one of the greats.”
