Brad Stevens was interviewed before the Celtics faced off with the Washington Wizards in the play-in tournament. When asked about how much the Wizards draw fouls and get to the line, Stevens said
“Three things stand out… you can’t get beat in transition…you can’t over foul…you gotta clean up the class…those are all enormous focal points…these games inevitably come down to that… I think that the appropriate technique on shot challenges is important to keep them off the foul line.”
The Wizards rank top ten in all of these statistical categories over the course of their late-season run. Washington finished 10-5 in their last 15 games and 17-6 in their final 21.
When asked about the status of Robert Williams, Stevens said, ““Rob’s gonna go, do his pregame shooting and everything… we’re hopeful that he plays.”
Williams has been dealing with a turf toe injury that kept him out of several games down the stretch of the season. His presence in the paint could be crucial against a Wizards team that thrives whilst attacking the basket.
