Bruins Re-Sign Jake DeBrusk to Two-Year, $7.35 Million Deal

The last Bruins restricted free agent has now been re-signed.

On Monday night, the Bruins announced they inked forward Jake DeBrusk to a two-year deal worth an average annual value of $3.675 million.

DeBrusk has skated most of this three-year NHL career on the left side of David Krejci, but the results have been a bit inconsistent.

During his three seasons in the NHL, DeBrusk posted point totals of 43, 42 and 35. He scored a career-high in goals with 27 in 2018-19, but only potted 16 in his first season and 19 in his most recent.

Despite the inconsistencies, DeBrusk ranks fourth on the Bruins in goals (62) and sixth in points (120) since he entered the league in 2017-18. During that time, he also posted the third-most game-winning goals with 14.

The signing comes at a time when many unrestricted and restricted free agents are getting less than many initially thought due to the NHL keeping the salary cap flat at $81.5 million for this season and most likely the 2021-22 campaign.

After this signing, the Bruins look to have roughly $2.982 million in cap space for the 2020-21 season. Many speculate some of that money will go towards UFA Zdeno Chara if he decides to re-sign.
