Bobby Manning of CLNS Media breaks down the Celtics’ devastating 130-124 loss vs the Miami Heat on May 9. The Heat had 79 points in the first half alone, making it nearly impossible for the C’s to mount a comeback.
Manning breaks down the Celtics’ putrid defense, which looked especially bad in the first half of the game. The Heat shot over 57% from the field and over 45% from deep on the game. Boston was able to outscore them 71-51 in the second half and Evan Fournier poured in 30 points in a comeback effort, but it was not enough to get them the win.
The C’s have been absolutely horrendous on the defensive side of the ball in recent games. They have held their opponent to under 100 points only once in the last nine games. Boston ranks 25th in the NBA in points allowed over that stretch.
