Celtics Collapse in 3rd, Heat Win 117-108 in Game 1

The Boston Celtics travel to FTX Arena to take on the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The highly anticipated rematch of the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals was just as intense as ever, and both teams were scrapping it out defensively and capitalizing on the opponents’ mistakes.

However, after a lackluster 3rd quarter, the Celtics fizzled out and couldn’t overcome the deficit developed and the Celtics lost 117-108 to the Miami Heat. The Celtics will have a chance to even out the score on Thursday in Game 2 of the series.

Ime Udoka said “We got out-toughed and out-physicaled. They looked like they want to up their physicality and aggression and we looked like we didn’t want to match it…We lost our composure.”

When asked about Jimmy Butler and his 20 free throws, Payton Pritchard said “We bailed him out a lot by biting on his pump fake. We need to clean that up.”

“I’ll take the blame for that. I’ve got to lead better,” said Jayson Tatum, “I’ve got to play better. Especially in those moments.”

“We wasn’t prepared to be without Al. We definitely wasn’t prepared to be without Al and Smart,” said Jaylen Brown. “But that’s not an excuse. We have to be better.”
