Celtics Hold Off Heat 111-104, Notch Second Straight Win

The Celtics traveled to South Beach to take on the Miami Heat on Friday night. As the team began the first leg of a back to back between the Heat and Magic, a matchup that was sure to prove a daunting one with the strong history between the two franchises tracing back to as recently as the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals.

In a physical matchup with some tough whistles, Boston managed to correct themselves and keep their composure under Mazzulla’s guiding hand, and the team eeked out a thrilling 111-104 win on the road at FTX Arena. With the win, Mazzulla became the first Celtics coach since Doc Rivers to start off his season 2-0, a feat that Doc managed during the 2009-10 season.

“This was a great test for us,” said Coach Mazzulla after the game. “I thought our guys did a great job responding but we’ll be judged by how well we handle our success.”
