The Boston Celtics traveled to FTX Arena to take on the Miami Heat in a pivotal Game 5 on Wednesday night. With the winner of the game taking a 3-2 series lead, both teams were gutting it out in a brutal matchup to try and get the upper hand. After a lackluster performance in the 1st half by Boston, the team responded extremely well in the 2nd half, outscoring Miami 56-38 (32-16 in the 3rd quarter). Boston stole a road win away from the Heat in a 93-80 win, and now stand one win away from the NBA Finals.
Following struggles with possessions in the first half, Head Coach Ime Udoka said he pulled Jaylen Brown aside and said “Be strong with the ball. It’s five games in now. We can’t keep having these turnovers.”
On the team’s early effort and struggles in the game, Jaylen Brown said “First half was s***. Threw it away. Came out and played basketball in the second half.”
On Marcus Smart playing through injury, Al Horford said “Marcus means so much to us. I was expecting to see him play today, so to see him out there, it was huge for us.”
With Game 6 in Boston, Jayson Tatum said that the Celtics cannot take their eye off the ball and on the Heat, he advised “Don’t look past them… this is far from over.”
