Celtics INSIDER Likes Chauncey Billups as Head Coach

Jared Weiss joined Celtics Beat this week to talk about Brad Stevens becoming GM, along with head coach options including Jerome Allen and Celtics assistants, Becky Hammon, Kara Lawson and Weiss’ guess, Chauncey Billups. Billups is becoming a popular option as coach openings emerge around the league, namely the Portland Trail Blazers. Billups won a championship as a player, was drafted by Boston, is known for his leadership and may connect to the players better as a Black man.

There are also concerns, as Evan Valenti brought up with his 1990s sexual assault case and the continuity emphasis from the Stevens press conference. Weiss emphasized his experience with the Clippers and success in coaching their guards this year.
