Celtics Lose in Blowout to Bulls

The C’s traveled to Chicago last night to take on the Bulls. Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams were both out for the contest, so the team was facing an uphill battle from the jump. And an uphill battle it was.

The Bulls came out red hot from three, shooting 45.8% in the first half, and 45% on the night. Meanwhile, the Celtics struggled from that range. They could only scrape together 11 makes on 39 three-point attempts. To make matters worse, nine of those makes came from Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier alone.

Walker finished the game with a season-high 33 points, while Fournier managed to pour in 17. They were the only two Celtics to score in double figures on the night. Jayson Tatum has a rough one, with only nine points in the game. He shot 3-15 from the field and 0-7 from deep.

Boston will now face back-to-back games vs the Miami Heat, who leapfrogged them in the standings tonight. Brad Stevens spoke about the importance of those games, as well as all the other games left in the regular season.

The Celtics currently hold the tiebreaker over the Heat, but will need to win at least one of these next two games to keep it that way. They are now one game behind them in the standings, and would currently find themselves in the play-in tournament. Both the Knicks and Hawks are still within striking distance as well, but the C’s will have to turn it up a notch to end the year.
