The Celtics took on the Nets in Game 2 of their first-round series last night. It was an offensive onslaught by the Nets from the jump, as they blew out the C’s 130-108 to take a 2-0 series lead.
Joe Harris’ 16 first-quarter points led the way in what was a dominating performance for the Nets. Marcus Smart and Evan Fournier were Boston’s main contributors on offense, combining for 35 points and nine of the Celtics’ 12 total three-pointers.
Jayson Tatum finished the game with only nine points. He left the game in the third quarter after being poked in the eye by Kevin Durant. Brad Stevens commented on his status in his postgame press conference:
“He went back out onto the court to try to kind of readjust to the light out there,” said Stevens. “He was really struggling…it looks pretty red, it looks pretty swollen to me. I don’t know what that means, I don’t know what the exact diagnosis is but obviously he’s uncomfortable right now.”
Tatum has put up 31 combined points through Games 1 and 2, shooting only 9-32 from the field. Kemba Walker also struggled again in this game, going 0-3 from deep and getting cooked on defense.
The Celtics now travel back to Boston for Games 3 and 4 of the series. Game 3 takes place this Friday, May 28th. Tip-off is set for 8:30 PM on TNT.
