The Celtics and Nets clashed on Saturday night in game one of their playoff matchup. Boston put up a solid fight in the first half but ultimately crumbled in the final two quarters, losing 104-93.
Kemba Walker’s offensive struggles highlighted a rough game for the C’s on that end of the floor. Walker shot 5-16 from the field as the team shot 36.9% as a whole. Tatum led the way with 22 points but only shot 6-20 from the field as well.
The real highlight of the game was big man Robert Williams. Williams set the franchise record for most blocks in a playoff game, recording nine on the night. Though the accomplishment was truly special, Williams did not seem too excited in his postgame press conference.
“And no, actually I haven’t gotten this many blocks in a game, ever. But don’t mean s*** if we lose, man.”
Brooklyn broke out of their slump in the final two quarters, while the Celtics fell into a slump of their own. The Nets now hold a 1-0 lead in the series going into game two which will be this Tuesday, May 25. Game 2 tip-off is set for 7:30 PM on TNT.
