Celtics Stifle Timberwolves 134-112, Move to 1st Place in the East

The Celtics welcome Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves to Boston on Sunday night. Boston notched another wire-to-wire win, with the Celtics dropping a season-high 72 points in the 1st half. The Celtics continued to pile on as they ran away with a 134-112 win over the Timberwolves; with the win, Boston leaps into 1st place in the Eastern Conference and have extended their win streak to six games.

On Robert Williams leaving the game with a knee sprain, Ime Udoka said Williams felt “quite a bit of pain” and they were unsure when the injury occurred. The team doctor had checked the injury, but the team won’t know more until the imaging comes back tomorrow morning.

“Just kind of went through that rough patch, so where you weren’t feeling good,” said Derrick White on his shooting slump. “Shout out to my teammates, coaching staff for keeping me confident. … Hopefully I can keep this stretch going and not get complacent.”

On going from 11th earlier in the season to the top seed, Jayson Tatum said “It’s been a journey. We’ve had to find our identity.”

When asked about how he plays so well in the 2nd half of the season, Tatum joked “I wish I could start the season like this. Then I’d be MVP.”
