Does Marcus Smart Need To Cool Off After Suspension?

Did Marcus Smart take it too far? Do the Celtics have to live and die by Smart’s emotions and does it help or hurt them more? The Garden Report analyzes it all in the following clip.

To recap, the Celtics’ “Heart and Soul” point guard was suspended by the league for one game Wednesday because of “threatening language” he directed at a referee a night earlier. The NBA did not provide specifics beyond saying the incident occurred “during and after the Celtics’ 119-115 loss to the Thunder”.

The suspension took Smart out of Celtics Wednesday night’s 120-111 win over the Charlotte Hornets, which fellow point guard Kemba Walker also missed. Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he found out about Smart’s suspension a couple of hours before tip-off. “I’m not even completely aware of what happened,” Stevens said during his pregame media availability. “I did hear there were words after the game.” Stevens also said he talked with Smart about it Wednesday morning, which counters that statement.

The Garden Reports covers the incident, and what are the Celtics’ problems with the refs this season? Lastly, has Stevens become a more vocal leader himself?
