White Shines, Celtics Beat Nuggets 108-102 for 7th Straight

The Celtics welcomed the Denver Nuggets to town on Friday night as the team tried to stretch their win streak to 7 games. Fueled by new addition Derrick White in his Celtics debut, Boston pushed past the Denver Nuggets in their 108-102 win. Boston’s defensive capabilities were on full display as the team overcame shooting woes with ferocious defense.

“We don’t miss a beat with him out there,” said Udoka of White. Udoka had coached White both in San Antonio as well as the 2019 FIBA USA team along with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart. “He knows what he’s doing and knows how to play off those guys,” said Udoka.

On the pairing with White, Marcus Smart said “We can be great. Me and him are two of the best defensive players in the league. And with this team…You can’t pick on us anymore because of our size.”

White said the last 48 hours had been hectic, saying “It’s been pretty crazy. But everyone’s been great since I’ve been here. I was happy I could come out here and play tonight and help the team win.”

On TD Garden erupting and cheering for him, White said “It was crazy. I got goosebumps. That was awesome. I really appreciated that ovation.”
