How to Use Cannabinoids Responsibly

There are different kinds of cannabinoids, which are primarily the psychoactive chemicals in the green plant. Some of the most common ones include THC, CBD, CBC, and CBN, among others. While some of the 144 different types of cannabinoids in the weed plant can be toxic and give you a “high”, others have proven to be extremely helpful in the medicinal world.

In moderation, even recreational cannabis can have various beneficial effects on one’s health. This includes THC, the compound that gives you the “high” in marijuana. But unlike the potentially toxic version of THC, safer forms of this compound have been unearthed. Recent research shows that Delta 8 THC provides various health benefits, including boosting appetite, pain relief, and alleviating anxiety. This takes debate surrounding marijuana and weed products to a whole new level. All the same, this does not necessarily give you a ticket to abuse marijuana, even for medicinal cannabis. Considering the various kinds of cannabis products on the market, here are some helpful pointers on how to use cannabinoids responsibly.

  1. Cannabis Edibles

Some of them include Gummies, cookies, dressings, truffles, and mints. Many people are not comfortable with the taste and smell of “weed” in the mouth, in which case gummies can be an optimal way of taking it. However, edibles take up to two hours to kick in, and digestive processes alter the metabolism of cannabinoids, producing a different metabolite of THC in the liver. THC may react differently to different users. This means that when taking cannabis edibles, it is important to observe your limits since the potency will depend on the amount used.

  1. Liquor

Some medications can be the foods and beverages you can take. Things like antibiotics and cancer drugs prohibit you from taking alcohol. But this is not the case for cannabinoids. They can be infused in brandy, rum, whiskey, or vodka. This is good news for all the liquor lovers since despite being under “medication”, you can have your favorite liquor as you cure your anxiety or whatever it is that you are treating with medical marijuana. Nonetheless, you still have to take alcohol responsibly. If uncontrolled, it will cause more harm than the intended good.

  1. Sublingual Products

If you are looking for quicker results, this is the way to go. This is a natural way to deal with your situation—tincture solutions from soaking cannabis flowers in oil, butter, alcohol, or fat. After soaking, let the product absorb under the tongue slowly instead of subjecting it to the digestive tract. It is best to watch your limits and go for products without added sugars and chemical preservatives.

  1. Topicals

Topicals are a great way to deal with pains and skin conditions. Eczema is a skin condition that has brought trauma to many new mums. CBD topicals provide a solution. They come in the form of lotions, balms, creams, salves, and transdermal patches that allow the absorption of CBD directly through your skin. Effects vary from one individual to another, but additional analgesics; including capsaicin, camphor, and ethanol add potential. Never use more than the recommended dosage when on topical cannabinoids.

Finally, smoking is the most effective mode of consuming CBD because it goes straight to the bloodstream, and the effect is almost immediate. Also, an utmost of 56% will be absorbed from the consumption. With smoking, it’s important to make sure that you do it in a state where medical and recreational marijuana is legal, or at least you have a medical marijuana card to back yourself up. Vaping, on the other hand, is more of the same, but you should avoid CBD vape cartridges made with agents like coconut oil, glycol, propylene, and vegetable glycerin because they can damage the lung tissue. Never smoke or vape more than you can handle. Seek medical help if the urge to smoke, vape weed, or use weed products won’t go away.
