Jayson Tatum on TD Garden: “It’s my favorite place to play” | Celtics vs Nets

Jayson Tatum was interviewed after his record-setting performance in Boston’s 125-119 win over Brooklyn. Tatum spoke on the importance of the win and his big night. “Trying to protect home court. Trying to get a win at all cost and sometimes the nights like these are needed”

Tatum was asked about last game and the eye injury after he was jabbed accidentally by Kevin Durant. “I mean, that night it was tough cuz it was red and swollen and they had to put a bunch of different drops in it just cuz it was someone’s finger to just make sure it didn’t get infected. But, I was fine today, I was fine yesterday, so it was just kind of that reaction right afterwards but I’ve been fine since then.”
On Sunday’s Game 4 with almost 100% attendance, Tatum voiced his excitement.
“I can’t wait. It’s been a while since playing in front of a packed house, especially in the playoffs, in the garden. I’m excited, I’m excited for the new guys, the young guys who haven’t experienced there yet. It’s going to be fun.”
On the importance of the bench and key role players stepping up, Tatum said “It was big, everybody contributed tonight. Tristan was a monster down there, Smart, Romeo came in. Obviously Fournier and it wasn’t necessarily Kemba’s night offensively, but just him being out there being vocal still being engaged…that won’t necessarily show up in the stat book but we wouldn’t have won without him. Obviously he’s going to respond, I expect a big game from him on Sunday.”
Tatum was sure to give love to the Garden and Boston fans.
“I mean there’s nothing like playing at home, for your home crowd…I’ve played a lot of games in this arena. It’s my favorite place to play. I’m most comfortable here.”
