Jayson Tatum was interviewed after practice on Thursday as the team prepares for their Friday night matchup with Brooklyn. On his eye injury, Tatum said “I got it checked I got it looked at…just getting ready for tomorrow”
When asked about the comments made by Kyrie and if the two ever discussed issues with fans before, Tatum gave his thoughts. “Yeah I saw the comments, and I think, as you can see from the games that happened yesterday, I don’t know if he’s talking from experience. Not that I know of, but you know, just seeing how the fans are acting in New York with the Trae Young situation, and then with obviously the Westbrook situation…I love our fans and I think it’s just a certain way that fans should act, are still enjoying a game and cheering for every respective teams. I think that’s what I feel like he was alluding to, just obviously they’re going to be chants against him. But I guess he was just talking about keeping it on basketball, which I think most people should understand.”
On the injury given to him by Durant and if he considered wearing goggles, Tatum said “You know, obviously…I know he didn’t intend to…I looked at it…obviously they didn’t call the foul..I mean you know it wasn’t intentional but…I felt like the ref was right there but you know, I feel like that’s how I guess that’s how it goes sometimes…just be ready for the next game. That’s all I can say looking forward to getting out there.”
On the outcome of last game and getting ready for Friday, Tatum said
“Oh, you know regardless of the score each game…it’s still worth one. So whether it’s a buzzer beater, or you know, a double-digit win, they all count the same so you know…get that one behind us and prepare like we are now for game three.”
