Jayson Tatum was interviewed after the Celtics practice on Thursday and spoke about their upcoming series vs the Brooklyn Nets. He talked about former-Celtic Kyrie Irving, gave advice to the younger players, and commented on how much of a confidence booster his 50-point game was for the team.
The media asked Tatum about Irving and how they became friends. This was his response: “We both went to Duke, at one point we had the same agent… we played here together for two seasons… we got to see his work ethic everyday.”
Tatum was also asked about what advice he would have for the team’s younger players, and responded with this statement: “We’re gonna need them… during this time of the year you never know when you’re going to be needed… there’s numerous situations where maybe a guy doesn’t play the first two games of a series, you go down 0-2, and someone unexpected comes in and makes a huge impact in Game 3… just to be prepared for every game.”
Lastly, Tatum commented on his 50-point game and the confidence boost it gave the team, saying this: “I’m sure it helps us… I think that’s just part of my role and everybody has a different role… obviously I’ve had a few of those big nights… it was just one of those nights… obviously we all felt good about ourselves after that… onto a new series.”
