Kemba Walker was interviewed after the Celtics practiced on Sunday. Walker struggled from the field in game one against Brooklyn, and it noticeably hurt Boston’s offense. “It was tough, I mean I think it would have been tough for anybody,” said Walker. “Being in foul trouble just kind of knocked my rhythm off… being in and out the game kind of made it tough.”
On his ability to draw charges, Walker said “I just try to stay there and just take it to the chest… that’s something I’ve been doing for a very, very long time…just getting another possession for my teammates, sacrificing my body.”
Brooklyn locked in defensively and bothered Walker, Tatum and Fournier on both sides of the court. “I think we got good looks, I think we got some good looks that we missed,” said Walker. “I thought we had our great looks, we just got to knock them down.”
Jabari Parker was making impact plays for Boston last night, and seems to have earned more minutes. “His energy, I thought his energy was great… everything that we wanted and talked about in the scouring report he did, and he was great,” said Walker. “He kind of poses a different threat for us… it’s good to have him.”
On whether or not lack of practice posed problems with defense, Walker stated “No, that’s not the case, that’s not the case at all… we still get in the gym, we still go by a game plan… we just have to do better on that end… all that stuff in our game plan, we have to be the ones to go out there and execute it.”
